These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and the developer of CatDogTor™ (Prokhor Vernikovskii, Novi Sad, Serbia, operating as an individual developer — "we," "us," "our"). They govern your use of the CatDogTor mobile application on iOS and Android, the website at catdogtor.app, and any related services we provide (together, the "Service").
We've written these Terms in plain English. Where something matters legally, we say so directly. Where a term is standard across every app you've ever used, we don't pretend otherwise.
If you don't agree with any part of these Terms, don't use the Service.
1. Accepting these Terms
By downloading, installing, or using CatDogTor, you confirm that you have read these Terms and agree to them. If you're using the Service on behalf of someone else (rare, but possible), you confirm you have their permission and that they also agree.
We may update these Terms from time to time (see Section 16). Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
2. Who can use CatDogTor
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you're under 16, please ask a parent or guardian to help you. If we find out we've inadvertently allowed a user under 16 to create data in the Service, we'll delete that data.
The Service is currently offered in English only. Availability by country is determined by Apple and Google according to their own rules; we don't control which countries the app shows up in on the App Store or Google Play.
3. Your account
You can use most of CatDogTor without creating an identified account — the app assigns you an anonymous ID on first launch. If you choose to link a Google or Apple identity (so your data can sync across devices), you agree that the information Google or Apple shares with us (your ID, email, and display name) is accurate.
You are responsible for keeping your device secure. If someone else has access to your phone, they have access to your CatDogTor data. We can't restore data that was deleted by someone using your device.
4. Your data and your content
Everything you create in the Service — pet profiles, medical records, photos, notes, lab results, medication courses, reminders — belongs to you. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your content to us.
You grant us the minimum license we need to run the Service: to store your content on our servers, display it back to you, and process it with the third-party tools listed in our Privacy Policy (Firebase, Google's Gemini AI for document scanning, RevenueCat, PostHog). We don't use your content for anything else, and we don't license it to anyone else.
You can export your content as a PDF at any time from Settings → Export. You can delete your content — individual records, individual pets, or your entire account — from Settings → Account → Delete. Deletion is immediate.
5. Subscriptions and payments
CatDogTor is free to install and use. A paid subscription (CatDogTor Pro) unlocks unlimited AI document scans, cloud backup, and priority support.
Billing. All payments are processed by Apple (via the App Store) or Google (via Google Play). We don't see your payment details — we only receive a signal from Apple/Google (via RevenueCat) that your subscription is active.
Free trial. Where offered, a free trial runs for the number of days shown at the point of purchase (typically 7 days). If you don't cancel before the trial ends, you'll be charged the subscription fee.
Renewal. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Renewal pricing is what Apple/Google show you at checkout.
Cancellation. You cancel directly in the App Store or Google Play (we don't have the ability to cancel for you):
- iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → CatDogTor → Cancel Subscription
- Android: Google Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → CatDogTor → Cancel
Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep Pro features until the end of the period you already paid for.
Refunds. Refunds are governed by Apple's and Google's policies, not ours. We can't issue refunds directly. If you think you're entitled to a refund, contact Apple or Google support. If there's something we clearly did wrong on our side, email us anyway — we'll help you navigate it.
Price changes. If we change subscription prices, the new price applies to new subscribers immediately. Existing subscribers are notified before the change takes effect at their next renewal, per Apple's and Google's subscription policies.
6. How you can use the Service
You can use CatDogTor for personal, non-commercial purposes — tracking the health of your own pets or those of people who explicitly asked you to help. You can use it for as many pets as you want on a single account.
Veterinary clinics and shelters interested in a business-tier version: email us. That's a separate conversation — these Terms don't cover it.
7. What you cannot do
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service, except to the extent applicable law expressly allows.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or any part of it.
- Automate access to the Service (scrapers, bots, headless clients) beyond what the Service's own UI does.
- Submit fraudulent content, spam the AI scanner with non-relevant images, or abuse the AI scanner to process documents unrelated to pet health.
- Attempt to access data that doesn't belong to you.
- Use the Service to violate any law.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, its servers, or connected networks.
- Use the Service to infringe on anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
- Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices (copyright, trademark) on the Service.
If we believe you've violated this section, we may suspend or terminate your access without notice. Section 15 covers termination.
8. Medical disclaimer
CatDogTor is a diary and a reminder system. It is not a medical device, it is not a veterinary decision-support tool, and it is not a substitute for professional veterinary care.
Everything the Service displays — vaccine status calculations, WSAVA-aligned recommendations, AI-extracted fields from scanned documents, any reminders or suggestions — is for your personal reference only. None of it is medical advice.
You must consult a licensed veterinarian for:
- Any diagnosis, treatment, or medication decision.
- Any interpretation of lab results.
- Any decision about whether, when, or how to vaccinate your pet.
- Any health concern, injury, or emergency.
If your pet is showing signs of illness or injury, contact a veterinarian immediately. Do not use CatDogTor as a substitute for that call.
We make no warranty that the Service's calculations, recommendations, or AI extractions are accurate, complete, current, or appropriate for your pet's specific situation. You agree that you use the Service at your own risk, and that we are not responsible for any health outcome resulting from decisions you make based on the Service's output.
9. AI features — what they do and don't do
The AI scanner uses Google's Gemini model (via Firebase AI Logic) to extract structured fields from the documents you photograph. This is a machine-learning process. It can and will sometimes misread a field, skip a field, or extract the wrong value.
You are responsible for reviewing every AI-extracted field before saving it. The app displays every field for review; saved records are a result of your confirmation, not the AI's output.
We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI extractions. We don't warrant that AI will correctly read every document type, language, format, or handwriting. If an extraction is wrong, correct it manually — the app always supports manual entry.
Google's terms for Firebase AI Logic apply to the AI processing step. Per those terms, your document content is not used to train Google's AI models and is not retained beyond the request. Still, review our Privacy Policy before deciding to use AI scanning.
10. Third-party services
The Service connects to third-party services to operate: Firebase (Google), RevenueCat, PostHog, Apple, and Google Play. Each of these has its own terms of service and privacy policy, and your use of the Service is subject to those terms where they apply.
When you click links from the app or website to third-party sites (the App Store, Google Play, veterinary guideline publishers, etc.), those sites are outside our control. Read their terms; we're not responsible for them.
11. Intellectual property
Our stuff. The name CatDogTor, the wordmark and logo, the "Gentle Guardian" design system, all illustrations and botanical motifs, the app's source code, the website, and all text and graphics we produce are owned by the developer. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service as described in these Terms. We don't grant you a license to anything else.
The CatDogTor name is an unregistered trademark (™). Registration in Serbia and globally via the Madrid Protocol is planned.
Your stuff. Pet data, records, photos, and notes you enter into the Service belong to you. Nothing here transfers that ownership to us.
Third-party stuff. WSAVA Guidelines, Phosphor Icons, Plus Jakarta Sans, Manrope, and Fraunces fonts, and any other third-party assets we use are governed by their respective licenses. Full credits are available at catdogtor.app/credits if we publish that page — otherwise, on request by email.
12. The Service is provided "as is"
To the maximum extent allowed by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind — whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. We specifically disclaim any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, or availability.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, bug-free, or secure.
- AI extractions will be accurate.
- Reminders will fire at a specific time (local notifications depend on your device's OS and state).
- Vaccine status calculations are correct for your pet (see Section 8).
- Your data will always be accessible (though we make reasonable efforts — see Privacy Policy for security practices).
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranty disclaimers; in those jurisdictions, your rights are what the law requires, not less.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, in no event will the developer of CatDogTor be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, pet health outcomes, veterinary costs, or other intangible losses — arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
Our total liability for any direct damages is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.
This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which a claim is based and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or anything that cannot be excluded by the laws of your jurisdiction.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold the developer of CatDogTor harmless from and against any claim, loss, damage, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of:
- Your use of the Service in a way that violates these Terms.
- Your violation of any law or any third-party right.
- Content you input into the Service that is unlawful or infringes on someone else's rights.
We will notify you in writing of any such claim and may, at our discretion, take over the defense of it.
15. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time, for any reason, by deleting your account from Settings → Account → Delete, or by uninstalling the app. If you have a paid subscription, see Section 5 for how to cancel.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if:
- You materially violate these Terms.
- You use the Service in a way that threatens the safety, security, or availability of the Service for other users.
- Required by law or legal process.
- The Service is discontinued (see below).
If we terminate for a reason other than your violation of these Terms, we'll give you a reasonable opportunity to export your data before termination.
Discontinuation of the Service. If we decide to stop operating CatDogTor entirely, we'll give at least 60 days' notice by in-app banner and, if we have it, by email. During that window you can export your data and cancel any active subscription. After the Service shuts down, we'll delete user data per our Privacy Policy's retention rules.
Sections that survive termination: Sections 8 (Medical Disclaimer), 11 (Intellectual Property), 12 (Warranty Disclaimer), 13 (Limitation of Liability), 14 (Indemnification), 17 (Governing Law), and any other provision that by its nature should survive — continue to apply after termination.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do:
- We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top.
- For material changes, we'll show you an in-app banner the next time you open the app, linking to the updated Terms, at least 7 days before the change takes effect.
- For minor changes (typos, clarifications), we'll just update the date.
If you don't agree with an update, your remedy is to stop using the Service and, if you wish, delete your account. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the update.
17. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved, where possible, by good-faith discussion between you and us. If that fails, the dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of Novi Sad, Serbia.
If you're a consumer resident in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, nothing in this Section deprives you of the mandatory consumer protections granted by the laws of your place of residence. In that case, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
18. General
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the complete agreement between you and us about the Service. They replace any prior agreement on the same subject.
Severability. If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of these Terms continues to apply.
No waiver. If we don't enforce a right in these Terms, that doesn't mean we waive it.
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer our rights and obligations — for example, if we are acquired — and we'll let you know if that happens.
Relationship. These Terms don't create a partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship between you and us.
Force majeure. We're not liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control (natural disasters, war, acts of government, internet-wide outages, pandemics, etc.).
19. Contact
Questions about these Terms, or about anything else related to the Service:
We read every message and reply within 3 business days. If you don't hear back, please resend — sometimes filters catch things.
