Does CatDogTor replace my vet?
No, and it never will. CatDogTor is a diary and a reminder system. Every medical decision — which vaccine, which interval, which test — stays between you and your veterinarian. The app is designed so it always defers to a licensed professional. We're a better filing cabinet, not a better vet. For more, see Section 8 of our Terms of Service.
Is my pet's data private?
Yes. You don't need an account, a name, or an email to use the app. Your records sit in a private workspace tied to an anonymous ID on your device. We don't run ads, and we don't sell data. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, that's only to sync across devices. The full breakdown — including every subprocessor we use and where your data physically lives — is in our Privacy Policy.
How does the AI scan work?
You photograph a document — a vaccination certificate, lab report, or prescription. The image goes through Google's Gemini model (via Firebase AI Logic) which extracts dates, doses, biomarkers, and clinic names, then drafts a record. The app displays every extracted field for you to review and confirm. Nothing is saved without your OK. Google doesn't keep your photos or use them to train AI (see Privacy Policy §4.3).
Which vaccines does CatDogTor track?
For cats: FVRCP, FeLV, Rabies. For dogs: DHP, Leptospirosis, Kennel Cough, Rabies. All intervals follow the 2024 WSAVA Guidelines. If your vet uses a vaccine we don't have a template for, add it as a custom vaccination — all fields are editable.
What happens after my 5 free AI scans?
You keep using the app fully. Every feature except unlimited AI scanning and cloud backup remains available on the free tier. You can always add records manually — tap a record type, fill in what you see, save. Pro unlocks unlimited AI scans, cloud backup, and priority support for $29.99/year after a 7-day free trial.
Subscription trouble
I was charged but Pro features aren't unlocking
First, open the app and go to Settings → Account → Restore purchases. In most cases that resolves it within a few seconds. If it doesn't, email us with the date of your purchase and your anonymous user ID (shown in Settings → About).
I want to cancel or get a refund
Cancellation happens directly in the App Store or Google Play — we don't have the ability to cancel for you:
- iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → CatDogTor → Cancel Subscription
- Android: Google Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → CatDogTor → Cancel
Refunds are governed by Apple's and Google's policies. If you believe you're entitled to one, contact Apple Support (support.apple.com/billing) or Google Play Support (support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637). If there's something we clearly did wrong on our side, email us anyway — we'll help you navigate it.
Data and account
How do I export my data?
Settings → Export. The app generates a PDF with every pet, every record, every photo, and every note. You can email it to yourself or your vet.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete. Deletion is immediate — see the full step-by-step for details.
I forgot to link a Google/Apple account, and I'm switching phones
Your data is tied to the device until you link an identity. To transfer it: on the old phone, go to Settings → Account → Link to Google or Apple. Then install CatDogTor on the new phone and sign in with the same identity. Your records sync down.
Media inquiries and partnerships
For press, veterinary clinic partnerships, or shelter-tier discussions, email the same address and put the topic in the subject line ("Press:", "Clinic:", "Shelter:"). We'll route it.
